Planning Your Night

Plan Your NIght

Photo: Patrick Kelley.

Northern Spark 2016 takes place in two zones of downtown Minneapolis:

  • Mill City & Mill Ruins Park
  • Minneapolis Convention Center Plaza

With nearly 50 projects, there is a lot to see and experience at Northern Spark.

To make the most of your night:

  • wear comfortable shoes,
  • bring weather appropriate gear and layers of clothing,
  • traverse the festival by bicycle,
  • stay hydrated(!)—bring a water bottle to fill up at the TapMpls water station,
  • fuel up—bring snacks to eat and enjoy festival food truck offerings

Tools to plan your route (or just wander and discover)!

Mobile Website / northernspark.org holds all the information you need to plan your adventure—project listings, maps, a schedule of timed events, and more. The My Night feature lets you customize a list of projects you want to see, including times and locations. northernspark.org is mobile-ready! Use it to find your way on festival night and learn more about the artists and presenters.

Way-finding / Look for the Red Flags! To find a project at a festival venue, look for tall signs with red flags and the Northern Spark icon.

What to Bring

A reusable water bottle
We’ve partnered with Tap MPLS to set up tap water stations at the festival. Our food vendors will not be selling any bottled water.

Soil
Want to get your soil tested at the Soil Lab? Follow their directions on how to get a soil sample from your yard, then bring it along. U of MN research scientists will test it for heavy metals and fertility, right at Northern Spark!

Snacks
We’ll have great food vendors throughout the festival, but we recommend also coming prepared with snacks to keep you sustained so you can stay ’til sunrise.

A donation
Your donations helps keep Northern Spark free and supports the artists that make it happen. Stop by any information station to make a donation or purchase a t-shirt.

Weather appropriate gear

The weather for Saturday is looking fantastic! Wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket for later in the night as the temperature cools off. Follow us on twitter for any last minute weather updates.

Your smartphone

Our site is mobile ready and has all the info you need. Please note that there is no app this year. Share your images with us on Instagram using the hashtag #nspk16 and we’ll re-post our favorites.

A spirit of adventure!

Northern Spark lets you experience the city in ways you never have before. Play, explore, and create with us all night long.
