Pre-Festival Events for Families of All Ages

Start your evening on the Minneapolis Convention Center Plaza with activities appropriate for all ages. Learn about Minnesota wolves and moose, learn to call the animals, dance to live music, and decorate your bike to prepare for the rest of your nighttime adventure.

Gustavo Boada, Make-N-Take Moose Antler Workshop, 6-8:45 pm 

Make your own glow-in-the-dark moose antlers to wear in your hair or attach to your bike helmet!

Brass Messengers, Music in the Plaza, 6-8:30 pm 

In the moment, interactive and spontaneous live music.

Heid E. Erdrich, Make a Moose Caller Workshop, 6-8:30 pm

Participants of all ages will create Ojibwe-­‐style “moose callers” substituting recycled plastic for traditional birchbark. Participants will have the chance to practice moose vocalizations using their callers.

Jamie McDonald, Community Bike Rally, 6-8:45 pm

Jamie McDonald, owner of Sunrise Cyclery, will lead a group of cyclists around the city beginning and ending at the plaza.

Heid E. Erdrich, Poetry Reading, 8:30 – 8:40 pm

Nancy Gibson, Wolf Howling Tutorial, 8:40 – 8:45 pm

Ely in the city! Learn how Wolf and Moose interact in the wild plus a Wolf Howling tutorial lead by the International Wolf Center!
