Riley Kane and Mike Haeg,
The Change Booth

Similar to a Fortune Teller Booth, this simulated pay-per-performance entertainment spectacle invites visitors to ‘pay’ with a free quarter to observe one of nine climate-themed acts behind the red velvet curtain, including: the violinist from “The Sunny Era”, readings from a Climate Change Denier, weather humor from the ventriloquist act Riley n’ Salty, a futuristic celebrity impressionist a Real Housewives Tarot Card Reader, and burlesque dancer Ophelia Flame doing an interpretive dance of what Minnesota winters could look like in 2025. The experience is interactive, surprising and completely analog.

The Change Booth will feature 8-9 different acts, each performing a 40 minute set, from 9 pm until 5:26 am.

  • Laila Stainbrook, a violinist from “The Sunny Era;”
  • Readings from a Climate Change Denier;
  • The Great Tamarelda, a Real Housewives Tarot Card Reader;
  • Riley and Salty, a ventriloquist act that will do “comedy” based on weather-related themes;
  • Ophelia Flame, a burlesque dancer who will do an interpretive dance of what Minnesota winters could look like in 2025;
  • Boldo Curso, he will put a gypsy curse on you;
  • The Impersonator, futuristic celebrity impressions; and
  • Mime-In-A-Box, literally.

Riley Kane is a writer at Minneapolis advertising and design agency, mono. He was a participating artist at the 2016 Art Shanty Project. Riley’s also involved with the Midcontinent Oceanographic Institute, a non-profit supporting under-served students with their creative writing, and affiliated with Dave Egger’s 826 National organization.

Mike Haeg is the mayor of Minnesota’s smallest small town, Mt. Holly (pop. 4). His creative work has been experienced on frozen lakes, at olde tyme swap meets, in want-ads, in dead drops, in the mail, nailed to trees, underwater, in bowling alleys, next to bodega cash registers, anywhere people are getting lost, and in some galleries, too.
