Hennepin County Library Staff with Jon Mac Cole, Olli Johnson, David Pisa, Nico Swenson, Michael Torsch, and Rhiana Yazzie,
The Night Library

The worst has happened—the waters rose, the temperatures skyrocketed, everything we depended on is gone. What happens now? Alice knows: the only way to go is up, and that means rebuilding society, or recreating it if need be. Where to start? Alice has heard tales, legends even. There was a wondrous place called the Library. There will be a Library again.

Become part of the building of The Night Library through this interactive installation experience. Share resources, gather information, and save the world through puzzles, storytelling, and theater.

Hennepin County Library staff and artists explores the role of information and the library in society through interactive, collaborative installations.

Jon Mac Cole is a Theater artist from Minneapolis, co-artistic director of Bedlam Theatre and co-founder of Eternal Cult, and a lover of libraries and dogs.

Olli Johnson likes to tinker and solve creative problems, especially in the realm of paper engineering, pop-ups, and automata!

David Pisa has created plays with puzzles for Walking Shadow Theatre Company, built day-long, week-long and one-room treasure hunts for various organizations, and wrote the story for MysteryPhone, a smartphone-based choose-your-own-adventure game for Northern Spark 2014.

Nico Swenson graduated from UMN’s B.A. Theatre program in 2014, and has recently performed and designed for the devised project “Die Weiße Rose.” Nico is also preparing for the Garlic creative companies “Living with Roaches” in this year’s Fringe.

Michael Torsch is a local actor and director, and a Sheep Theater founder.

Rhiana Yazzie is Artistic Director of New Native Theatre, which has a new way of looking at, thinking about, and staging Native American stories for the stage. Created in 2009 by playwright Yazzie, NNT is the only nonprofit Native American theater in the Upper Midwest. The theater company strives to create a path to meaningful careers in the performing arts for Native American artists and community members.

Additional team credits: Alicia Anderson, Hallie Bowman, Carrie Gawne, Elizabeth Hilber, Cecilia Hsu, Jennifer Klumpp, Amy McNally, Becky Rech, Cassie Warholm-Wohlenhaus, and Gwen Wasmund.
